Peckham Abstract Station (2012)
While waiting each morning to change trains at Peckham Station, London, small observational drawings were made of places rarely noticed: the corner of a pipe, the junction between a drainpipe and a wall, the edge of a shadow, or the spaces between structures. These overlooked fragments became the starting point for a series of sculptural forms, translating fleeting observations into three-dimensional objects. Installed together, the sculptures suggest an imagined city assembled from overlooked details. What appears abstract is rooted entirely in observation, revealing how the smallest parts of the everyday built environment can become something unexpectedly familiar.
