Greenwich Compost Toilet (2014)
Built with volunteers from the Royal Bank of Scotland, the project involved designing and constructing a compost toilet from reclaimed scaffold planks. Rather than treating it as a purely functional structure, the building was approached as a carefully considered object, drawing on the clean lines and simplicity of modernist design while making use of recycled materials. A structure usually hidden from view became the focus of attention, suggesting that thoughtful design can transform even the most ordinary of places.
